A couple weekends ago Alex and I woke up early Sunday morning to check out the tiny and super trendy Mr. Holmes Bakehouse in Lower Nob Hill. Home of the cruffin (a croissant and muffin love child), Mr. Holmes draws a HUGE crowd, especially on the weekends. There was a short enough line when we arrived that we decided to get a few treats. Apparently cruffins usually sell out before 8 am (definitely not committed enough to pastries to attempt getting one) so we opted for a croissant and a lemon cream-filled doughnut to split between the two of us. Two words: sugar coma. A fluffy, creamy, and entirely worth it sugar coma. I would highly recommend getting to Mr. Holmes as early as possible just to avoid the lines -- they also offer savory treats (...artichoke and asiago danish? yes please) which I've been wanting to go back to try. In addition to the diabetes-here-we-come pastries, the inside of the bakery is totally Instagram worthy -- talk about a good start to our Sunday morning.
